Every second Thursday of the month, Barker Street hosts a social event for dogs and their humans called “Yappy Hour.” The gathering brings together dogs of all breeds in a casual, non-structured setting and raises money for a local or national pet-related charity. Free dog treats are available as are free people treats for the humans.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for gatherings. Sponsors choose the pet friendly charity which will be the recipient of the funds raised that evening. Contact Barker Street for details.
June 2008 Yappy Hour
Our last Yappy Hour before the summer hiatus raised $200 for the Woodlands Dog Park Club. The people treats came from our friends at Steel City Pizza across the street.
The evening brought in old friends and new faces.
Bob Herrell was the lucky guest who won the coveted “Pretty in Pink” raffle prize donated
by Laura McConnell.
May 2008 Yappy Hour
May's Yappy Hour was graciously hosted by Barre Bernhardt of Bernhardt Winery with people treats donated by Barker Street. This month's raffle was our highest grossing yet. The grand prize was a Private Tour and Tasting for 20 at Bernhardt Winery.
The lucky winner was Hugh Grimes who was accompanied by Cottonball. With 10% of all sales between 5-7pm donated, the evening raised $250 for the Woodlands Dog Park Club.
April 2008 Yappy Hour
April’s Yappy Hour was graciously hosted by Jeanne Zeto and Mary Courtade with people treats donated by Steel City Pizzeria. This month’s raffle included a beautiful Jim Tweedy print donated by Mary Courtade, a coupon for a free doggy daycare at Almost Home Pet Retreat and a gift certificate from Barker Street.
The lucky winner was Jean Friend (whose name was pulled from the bowl by her totally unbiased husband, Scott.) With 10% of all sales between 5-7pm donated, the evening raised $286 for Houston Collie Rescue.
March 2008 Yappy Hour
The eagerly anticipated March Yappy Hour featured a raffle for an Easter Basket valued at $50. The winners were two Weimaraners, Ashley and Chance, whose ticket was purchased by their parents, Brett and Kristal Speer. With 10% of all sales between 5-7pm donated and the help of an anonymous benefactor, the evening raised $200 for the
Humane Society of Montgomery County.
March Yappy Hour was generously sponsored by Naomi Kern, “Your Pet Connection to Real Estate.” Sponsorship opportunities are available for gatherings later on this year. Contact Barker Street for details.
